Great food and wonderful service with one of the owners, Tim. He smokes all of the meat and uses homemade recipes for all of the food and sauce.

The Jockey Club is Platte County's preeminent dive bar. Taking its name from the 1930's when horse racing was a huge draw for Riverside. The bar has been in existence for over 55 years and has received a major facelift since my first visit 4 years ago. The exterior is mighty suspect, but the interior is quite clean and welcoming with a regular crowd of locals that can start drinking and smoking at 6am. The only bar in the metro open that early and one of only a handful that allows indoor smoking. The smoke is evident, but the exhaust system was keeping it at a minimum. Since October 2022, owner Tim has been serving a BBQ menu that he has been working to perfect his entire life. I ordered a 3 meat tray with 2 sides. Ribs, brisket and corned beef with baked beans and creamy coleslaw with 2 sauce choices, white bread and pickles. All sides and sauces are made in house. The sweet versus spicy sauces gave a very distinct difference and I liked each equally. The ribs were tender and smoked well with a glaze. Brisket and corned beef were perfectly smoked and tender also. I'm eager to return for the creative sandwiches they have on the menu, as well as the chicken wings that the lady next to me at the bar was raving about. The platter was a bit pricey at $22, but allowed me to take home enough for a sandwich at home for my wife. Quality and Quantity. I have zero complaints about any aspect of my meal. Although the Jockey Club has been a dive-bar staple for the day drinkers and smokers, the addition of some first class BBQ and the new remodeling should attract a broader clientele. If the smoke bothers you; to-go and outside patio seating is an option. Long live The Jockey Club Lounge - KC's #1 Dive Bar / BBQ Joint.

Wow! They have barbecue now and the best Reuben Sandwich I've ever had (it's called the Smokin' Irishman). The interior is clean and beautiful. There is a pool table, darts and golf and bowling digital games. There is also a jukebox and ATM and clean restrooms. It has no tap beer but a nice bottle and liquor selection. They do allow smoking.

Recently renovated. Free pool table. Great jukebox w pretty much every song imaginable. ATM located inside. Cash only bar. Coldest and cheapest drinks in town! Owner or owners usually tending bar there! Awesome folks. Patio seating a available out back. Good for some and bad for some is that they do allow smoking inside. Go visit a part of history and enjoy a cold one!
